About Me

Hi everyone!  My name is Tricia Gillespie and I am so glad you stopped by The Denim jacket and scarfDomestic Fringe.  Most people around here call me FringeGirl.

Welcoming you to my blog is an invitation to be a part of my life and family.  I hope we can get to know each other a little better.  Feel free to leave comments, send me an email {Tricia9199 at yahoo dot come}, and connect with me on Twitter or my Facebook page.

I am a wife of fifteen years, mom to two of the most incredible kids you’ll ever meet, and a blogger. 2013 begins my fifth year of blogging.

No one is ever quite sure what to make of bloggers.  My husband (FringeMan) thinks I air our families’ dirty laundry, my kids (FringeBoy & FringeKid) think I play computer games all day, and my mom thinks I swap emails with Stephen King.  I think this life is beautiful and I try to make every day extraordinary.  Then I share my days with you.  Will you join me in this adventure called life?

I had the privilege of being an Erma and writing a monthly humor article for An Army of Ermas.  You can find my collection of writing from An Army of Ermas HERE.  I believe life is too short to take myself too seriously, besides, there is something special tucked into each day that can make you smile.  You just have to look for it.

Kids on Halloween

Some days you will find me writing about my kids and the funny things they do and say, like the time a friend called and asked if I heard what my son said in Awana.  Good grief!  Where do they come up with this stuff?  Unfortunately a virus runs through the FringeFamily that is immune to anti-viral medication.  It’s called diarrhea of the mouth.  I hope your children don’t catch it.  It does make for interesting blog fodder though.  I mean not every kids tells his doctor that he eats squirrels for dinner.  I’m trying to resign myself to the fact that my kids have loose lips.

My Daughter and I in a Photo Shoot

Other days I blog about fashion.  Here’s a little secret…shhh…come a little closer, because I don’t want everyone to hear.  I don’t know the first thing about fashion, but it’s fun to play around.  Some outfits work and others end up sending me straight to the ugly list. All I know for sure is that trying on swimsuits catapults me into depression and I would wear skinny jeans every single day if they came in husky.  Beyond that, it’s trial and error.  I love accessories and color and participate in What I Wore Wednesday every week (almost).

Lately I’ve been getting in touch with my inner Martha Stewart and going DIY crazy.  It all began with my glitter deer silhouette.  Then I painted a pallet red, hung it on my wall, and made a bunch of New Year decorations.  I’m into easy.  DIY can’t be too detailed and intricate or else it will dive me OOMM – Out of My Mind!  My best DIY project to date is definitely the birthday balloon wreath.  It’s amazing the things you can do with 300 balloons.

When I start talking about my cooking cycles, run the other way!  Just warning you.  I’m not the greatest cook, but I love to eat, so every once in a while I cook up a meal that’s worthy of sharing with you.  I would definitely try my cinnamon heart waffles, birthday cake shakes, and rustic sausage stew.  You’re safe with those!

Photograph in Park with Bible Verse

This past fall I wrote a 31 day series on Living by Faith.  We asked the question What Is Faith?  We talked about how we sometimes treat God like our good luck charm.  We put Him in our pocket and call it faith.  Then I told the story of a ten thousand dollar prayer and we finished the month out deciding we would be a team as we run alongside each other in the race of life.

I write Monday through Friday and sometimes even on the weekends.  I hope you’ll laugh your way through life with me.  And, by the way, I stop for yard sales!
